Benefit Concert for My Artist’s Corner

cafe_deux_soleil_2000pxIn an effort to bring awareness to those afflicted with mental health issues, we’re hosting a benefit concert for My Artist’s Corner (MAC) on April 17th at Cafe Deux Soleils. MAC is a program within the CMHA that helps those living with mental health issues create art as a therapeutic mean by increasing self confidence, reducing isolation and helping develop social skills. Members from MAC will have their pieces on display for sale. We will be donating proceeds from our merchandise and ticket sales to MAC. Tickets are by donation with a $5 minimum. Rusty Frets Spotlight

rusty_fretsAndy here. Like most people who spend their day unsupervised in front of a computer, I spend way too much time on Reddit. A couple of months ago I came across a post in the /r/indie subreddit from this new boutique guitar shop, Rusty Frets. The owner was seeking bands to feature on his site. I thought this was pretty neat. Gear’s obviously important to musicians and shapes a band’s sound. For I shot him a message, telling him about Echo Nebraska (at this point we had only launched the band a week earlier). We planned to do the interview closer to the release of Send the Ships, and kept in touch.

This week the interview came out. We talk about what new bands can do to get of the ground, and of course get into what kind of gear our band is using.

You can read it here.

I just want to thank Bryan from Rusty Frets for featuring us on his site. We hope to eventually make it down to Oregon and stop by the shop!

There is one bum note this story, however. The morning I came across this post, I purchased a Keeley 4 Knob Compressor from Amazon. I was super stoked about it, until I saw this on Rusty Fret’s website….

How cool is that? As much I love the Keeley, that finish would have been so much sweeter.

Send the Ships Now Out!

We’re very excited to announce that our debut record, Send the Ships is now available on iTunes, Bandcamp, AmazonSpotify and wherever else you get your digital music. CDs are also available to purchase at Zulu Records, Red Cat Records, and Neptoon Records in Vancouver, BC.

The 5 songs you hear are ones we thought would be a good introduction to the band.

Send the Ships was self-produced and recorded at Blue Light Studio in Vancouver. Andy engineered and mixed the tunes. Philip Shaw Bova mastered it in Ottawa, ON.
